JACK HYPHEN – I Wanna Know (For Once) (Single Review)

Written by Aidan McCarron

One of the coolest achievements a musician can boast about in their career is the opportunity to record in the famous Abbey Road Studios, and Jack Hyphen can boast just that.

His latest single ‘I Wanna Know (For Once)’, released on 17th April, is an energetic fusion of bouncy, indie rock with pop inspired alt-rock. The funky rhythm section provides a fun backbone to an otherwise honest account of when people aren’t being the most upfront with you.

Jack’s vocal melodies are an outstanding showcase to what he has to offer and the overall vibe of the track brings a whole new level to his career. The second verse yet again demonstrates the tight, hard-hitting rhythm section with multiple rhythmic stops providing a more vivid texture to the song.

The latter half of the track provides a grittier feel with a more ethereal section, initiated by a laid-back vocal and electric guitar phrase that builds up into a vast, inspired climax and portrays a sense of utter exhilaration.

If you’re looking for a track that takes you on a journey of exploration through multiple different styles all blended into one, then this track is for you…
